Waiting on the Lord

Patients has never been my strong suit. Like most people in the modern world I am used to having things right now. I was born in the 1980's, so I never developed much patients. I grew up in a world of microwaves, fast food, cable TV, internet, cellphones, etc. If a video or song takes more than 5 seconds to upload people have a fit. I know that I am guilty of this. In the old days people had to hunt for food, scrub clothes on a wash board, and walk to get where they were going. I imagine that most of them were not in a big hurry to get things done. These people had patients and probably enjoyed life more. One of the many downfalls of fast paced modern society, is that everyone is in a hurry to get things done. Developing patients in this day and age is a difficult task. It is something that all Christians must develop. If we are looking for God's blessings in our lives, we have to do it on his time. I have heard it said, that God's wheels grind slow. This is not something that people in a fast paced society want to hear. When someone goes to God in prayer they are expecting results quickly. When the desired results do not occur within the expected time frame, people want to give up on God. I know that I do. I once had a job that I really wanted and I prayed and prayed about it for months. I wound up not getting hired for the job and was disappointed with God. I felt like God failed me. About 6 months later I checked the job board and saw an even better job listed. I wound up getting hired without even having to interview. The other job that I had to have went to a co-worker, and I remember being jealous of him. The job that I eventually got, wound up being 30 minutes closer to my house. The other guy lived 10 minutes from the job he got. So, things worked out perfectly for both of us. If I just had patience and trusted the the Lord, I would have never been filled with worry like I was.

Galatians 6:9 - And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

Philippians 4:6 - Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

Isaiah 40:31 - But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Another characteristic we as believers must develop is trust. God has a everything under control. It may not be the exact way we want it done, but it will be better than what we could have expected. A lot of the time we are looking for a quick way out of a problem, not realizing that we may be creating a worse problem down the road. We must learn to put our trust in God. At first it is hard to do, and is more blind faith than anything, but this faith is pleasing to God.

Hebrews 11:16 - But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Matthew 21:22- And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

Hebrews 11:1 - Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Luke 1:37 - For with God nothing shall be impossible.

When we are in the midst of a trial or affliction the suffering can be unbearable. We might be suffering horribly wanting God to fix the problem right now. This waiting period can be excruciating. This is a crucial part of the process. God is testing our faith, to see if we will trust him in the storm. This can cause believers to turn against God, and say he is no good or that he can do nothing. We must not fall into that trap. Resist the Devil and his lies. Trust the Lord with all your heart and he will come through. Sometimes it may take years, but stay diligent in prayer. There are cases where God does not answer prayers. This is ok, because it is his will. Sacrificing our will for his is extremely difficult, but will yield fruitful results. The happiest a person can be, is to be saved and living in the will of God. I have a few things in my life that I am desperate for God to deliver me from. In the mean time I will keep the faith and wait on him.

I hope this was a blessing to you and I will leave you with the only way to heaven the gospel. We are saved by believing that Jesus paid for our sins at the cross. He shed his pure and innocent blood as payment for all of our sins.

I Corinthians 15

1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;

2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.

3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
