Victory Over Sin
Updated: Apr 13, 2021

I write this as I struggle, myself. I had made so much headway over months of work, but a few mistakes cost me so much. I have lost a few battles, but not the war. It is so important in the life of a believer to have victory over sin, so it does not control you. It will also be pleasing to God and he will bless you. I feel I need to clarify things. We are not saved by our good works. Our ability to stop sinning does not get us into heaven. It is by the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, that get us to heaven. Putting our faith in Jesus saves us from hell. Now if we want the blessings of God, we must get control over our sin life or flesh. Also we should serve the Lord through various means like prayer, bible study, soul winning, etc. It is victory over sin and our flesh that so many believers struggle with. When we allow ourselves to get to deep in the world, our flesh can get out of control. I believe that believers have worst self control issues than non-believers, once they fall deep into sin. I believe that God allows Satan to run amuck with our sinful desires, to the point that it is shameful and embarrassing. Getting these desires back under control requires some serious effort on our behalf. Luckily we have the Holy Spirit living in us, whom we can call on.
With the help of God anything is possible. No problem is to big or to small for him. Just bring everything to him. If you ever think "I don't want to bother God with that". Ask him any way, he wants to help.
Psalms 55:22 Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.
God says cast your burdens upon me. He wants to take care of these things. It just takes time, you have to be patient. What for some takes a lifetime to create, may take years to undo. It would be nice if we could just snap our fingers and God could change us. It is not that easy. We have to do our part too. We must be diligent in prayer, asking God often to help us. We must fight the urges, whatever they may be and build our strength. As we build our strength and resist temptation, God's power intensifies. Diligently fighting for months or even years can give us freedom over our sins. I feel the only way to beat addiction and sin is through the power of the holy spirit. He can supernaturally change our desires. All we have to do is fight and show that we care about not hurting God and mocking sin. Every time we submit to sin we make a mockery of God and his hatred of sin. This allows the devil to step in and afflict us. I struggled this month only after submitting to sin.
It didn't seem like that big of a deal, I was just going to listen to some worldly music for an hour. I didn't think God would really mind. It was just generic techno music with no lyrics. Boy was I wrong. God is not playing around with me at this point in my life, he wants me to have victory over my flesh so he can bless me. He has heard my pleading for mercy and he wants to help. He is making himself known and what he expects. After listening to that music, I fell into lust strangely, and serious rage. The rage has simmered down a bit, but the lust is still there. I found myself sexually fantasizing and a bad thing happened, that I will not mention. God is making it known that he will not tolerate these things. He will simply let me fall into sin and suffer the consequences, such as quilt, pain, lose, hopelessness, etc. I now know what he expects, so I can stop these desires before I act on them. For example if I hear a catchy song and want to go listen to it, I can remember what happened last time. A few minutes of joy can cause weeks of despair. How is that fair some may ask? Well the more serious the consequence, the more effect it has. If all I ever got was a slap on the wrist, I would probably sin all the time. The pleasure would out way the consequence. God doesn't work that way, he is to smart for that. He knows for people to learn it has got to hurt bad. That way they will think twice before they do it again. Ever burn yourself? It only takes a quick moment and the pain can last a long time. You think twice the next time you go to grab that hot pan. The next time my mind wonders into lust I will have to remind myself what happened last time, and stop it in its tracks. The Holy Spirit will let you know that it is wrong, listen to that instinct. Don't just go for it and hope for the best, you will lose every time. I hope this blessed you. Thank you for reading my Blog, and I will leave you with the gospel.
I Corinthians 15
1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
