Not Fitting In

We as humans have a natural desire to connect with other humans. There is this an ingrained need to belong to a group. There can be serious mental and physical health problems that can occur as a result of being an outcast. The bible however is opposed to the idea of fitting in. It says, be ye separate. God wants us to separate ourselves from the world, because it is filled with evil and sin. The world can corrupt good morals. It doesn't take long for a person running with the wrong crowd to become corrupted by them. This idea of separation is particularly hard for young people. For a person who is in their 30's or older, not fitting in is not a big deal. For kids though, it is a major deal. They have to go to school and deal with judgmental peers everyday, not to mention bullies. I believe Satan has set it up this way. Not only to keep kids away from God, but to possibly destroy their life if they get saved. Christianity is a tuff sell amongst the youth. Deep down they know that they may become an outcast. Older people have certain expectations placed on them as well. Most people over they age of 21 hang out at bars and clubs. Not wanting to go to these places could put you at odds with people. Work can also be a difficult place to not fit in. Work place bullying is real and it can have detrimental effects on the victim. With all of these perils, God still wants us to be separate from the world.
II Corinthians 6
14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?
16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,
18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
God does not want his children to be corrupted by this world. He does not take sin lightly.
Unsaved people that indulge in these things will burn in hell. Likewise if a child of God tries
to do the same, they will be punished. God will separate them from the world, without their
consent, this is extremely painful. Their are two choices, either you can volunteer to be
sperate or God will do it for you. It is best to just do it yourself and save a lot of unnecessary
pain. How do you deal with not fitting in? Your going to have to find Godly activities to do.
Sports are fine, just stay away from sinful people playing the sport. Make sure they know
you are a Christian and that you live for the Lord. If this is a problem, move on to something
else. You will probably want to get involved in Christian activities like church, bible studies,
camp meeting, evangelism, etc.. This will allow you to meet people that you have things in
common with. If some of these people are living sinful lives, stay away from them. You want
to have friends that are living close to God. You can do wholesome activities together, like
fishing, hiking, golf, playing music, etc..
Do not look forward to being popular once you get saved. You simply won't fit in. If you go to
a party, they won't want you there. The old lost friends you had, will turn on you. The places
you use to go will no longer be welcoming. God may need to be all you have for a time. You
have to get comfortable with the idea of being alone in this world. It may not be for long or
you could be alone for years. Either way, know that the world is no longer your friend. It
may become very hostile toward you. Bringing the Holy Spirit around a bunch of demons, is
not a good idea.
I John 2
15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
Just because we are not suppose to be friends with the world, does not mean that we can not
interact with it. As Christians, we are called to serve God and bring lost people to Christ.
This is our duty to God. We should make a habit of going out soul winning. Even if it is just
talking to family about salvation. Ideally we should bring Christ and the message of
salvation into the world with us where ever we go. I have been slack on this myself, but I
have tracts coming and will hit the streets soon. I once had grand visions of a fun party life,
but God had other plans. You can not fight God and win. Do yourself a favor and do not try
to make friends with the world.
I hope you enjoyed this article. If you are not a Christian, I invite you to get saved now.
Tomorrow may be to late. To get saved all you have to do, is admit that you are a sinner and
that Jesus Christ died for your sins. The only way to take away sins is with the pure shed
blood of Jesus Christ. Good works can not take away sins. If they could, then Jesus Christ
died in vain. Jesus died, was buried, and rose from the dead as payment for all sins. Once
you believe that, you are saved forever. You did nothing to earn it and you can do nothing to
lose it.
I Corinthians 15
1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
Ephesians 2
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Romans 5
8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
I John 5
13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
Titus 3
5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
