Guard the gates of your mind

It seems that life full of troubles. Some times no matter what we do, we can not seem to got it right. We can find ourselves in mess, after mess, after mess. It can seem like it will never end. Weather it is a minor set back or a major one, no one likes having problems. Would you believe me if I told you that our problems, most of the time, are self inflicted? That we are in fact the ones responsible for the trouble in our lives. The reason that we have so many problems is that we want to play God. We want to run are own lives. When we want to run our own lives, God steps aside and lets us do just that. The only problem is, when God steps out, Satan steps in. Unlike God, Satan is not out for peoples best interests. He wants to destroy lives. When Satan steps into a person life, he starts giving them ideas. Satan attacks the mind.

Great ideas that seem like are own, are often put there by the Devil. For lost people, Satan's main objective is to send them to hell. He will do whatever he can to convince them that God isn't real and that hell does not exist. Some people are easy to convince, while others are skeptical. That's ok, because Satan has something for the skeptics too. If a lost person is curious about God, the Devil has many avenues for them to go down. There are the Catholics, the Mormons, the Calvinists, Buddhists, Hindus, the list goes on and on. Satan will try and convince the lost man that one of these is the perfect fit. Usually it will appeal to their pride or self righteousness. Something that can get a person lifted up. The Devil knows how much we love being lifted up. He spends our whole lives trying to convince us we need it. "It is not what God thinks of you, no, it is what other people think of you." This is easy to get caught up in, call it "the rat race" or "keeping up with the Joneses." Satan will lie and deceive you, to get you sent to hell and at the end of the day it will be your own fault. It was your responsibility to guard your mind and learn the truth about God. Most people don't want to know the truth. Satan loves these people. He can take them by the hand and lead them into all kinds of sin and use them as the example. He can show them off to everyone else and say " look at how great this person is, they sure are something, if your not like them your nothin." People will buy this hook, line, and sinker. Why not, sin feels good. Being accepted feels good. It seems like such a good thing. It is not, guard your mind.

For the saved man, Satan has a different approach. He already lost them, but he can still destroy their lives. Satan will do his best to convince them that the world with all of it's pleasures, has more to offer than God. He will do his best to get them to stray from God. He will set traps for them to fall into. He will convince them that something is a good idea, he will make it seem so good. He will bring people into their life that seem so great, only to later destroy them. There is a law in the bible called sowing and reaping. If a Christian sows corruption, they will reap corruption. This can apply to lost people as well.

1 Peter 5:8- Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

This verse starts off with be sober. This can mean being very serious and also avoiding intoxication. Getting inebriated is one of the best ways to give Satan full access of your mind. Drugs and alcohol tear down any walls that stand between you and the Devil. Satan loves when God's people get intoxicated. Because he knows it hurts God and also gives him full access to infect a believers mind. Satan's attacks can get so bad that the person can develop mental illnesses. Even without drugs and alcohol, Satan will constantly attack any believer who tries to play God in their own lives. As human beings we can not fight the Devil. He is a super natural being, that can do things that we can not even comprehend. He never sleeps. He is a roaring lion that we do not want prowling around in our lives. He will do nothing but wreak havoc. The only way to fight the Devil is with God.

We must let God be the Lord of our lives. This is not how a person gets saved, that is a free gift, but it is how we fight off Satan. We must make the choice to live in obedience to God. We do that by reading the bible and doing what it commands. We must make the right choices. We need to live Christ like lives. In doing so, we become the gate keepers of our own minds. We do so by living in truth and using the word of God as a guide for how to live our lives. So, when the Devil comes with his brilliant ideas, we can say NO! The Devil will not stop there, he will keep coming back, trying to destroy us. We must be vigilant and keep doing what God wants us to do, so the Devils tricks do not deceive us. You see, in the light Satan's trick are clearly visible, but in darkness we can not see them, and we are like lambs to the slaughter. Therefore live in the light, as God is in the light and the Devils traps will be clearly seen. You will see that it is bad, and avoid it, and save yourself so much heartache. Ask yourself, do you want a life of blessings or a cursed life of misery? God's children can have it so good and have such a sweet life. Why would they want to live in constant misery?

Be smart, guard your mind against the lies of the Devil. Make the right choices by following God and his righteousness. Let him lead you down the path to amazing blessings and a joy filled life. Do not fall for the wiles of the Devil. He is always just outside waiting to get in and destroy your life. Satan will utterly destroy your life, if you are not careful. God will allow you to make whatever decisions you feel like. He will also let you reap the consequences thereof. Guard your mind and follow Christ.

I hope you enjoyed this article. Do not let the Devil trick you and take you to hell. If you are not a Christian, I invite you to get saved now. Tomorrow may be to late. To get saved all you have to do, is admit that you are a sinner and that Jesus Christ died for your sins. The only way to take away sins is with the pure shed blood of Jesus Christ. Good works can not take away sins. If they could, then Jesus Christ died in vain. Jesus died, was buried, and rose from the dead as payment for all sins. Once you believe that, you are saved forever. You did nothing to earn it and you can do nothing to lose it.

I Corinthians 15

1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;

2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.

3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

Galatians 2

16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

Revelation 1

5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

Ephesians 2

8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
