Gods Man in the 20th Century part 2: Dr. Peter S. Ruckman

God will always leave people his preserved word. He has throughout history given people men who could decipher his word and bring the truth of God into the world. Every century from the reformation onward, God has given men to minister to the people. In the 20th Century he gave the world 2 men J. Frank Norris and Peter S. Ruckman. Norris at the first half and Ruckman at the second half. Many people will say that these were not Gods men, and a great many will say they were. I will admit that there were many great preachers in the 20th Century. I am a fan of their work, but it was these two men that were a cut above the rest. In this article we will cover the controversial Peter S. Ruckman.

Peter Sturges Ruckman was born November 19, 1921 in Wilmington Delaware. His parents were both distinguished people. His father came from a military background and was incredibly smart, having an IQ around 160. His mother came from a privileged upbringing in California. The family had a private cook and a gardener. She was also brilliant having a near 160 IQ as well. The Family moved to Topeka, Kansas, when Peter was a young boy. He was raised on the streets. They had gangs of boys and he was in a gang with his brother. Eventually his brother got to be to old and started running with older boys. Peter started his own gang after that. He was a thief by his own admission. He learned how to break into houses from watching movies as a kid. He said movies are where he learned a lot about criminal activities. Beside getting into mischief, he was a smart boy and read a book a day. He would do this on and off for most of his life and eventually read over 6500 books. He was believed to have a photographic memory. He attended Kansas State University then finished his education at the University of Alabama, where he earned a bachelor's degree.

He entered the army in 1944 as a second lieutenant. He trained men in hand to hand combat. Before leaving the US, for military duty, he married his first wife and had a baby. While in Japan he studied Zen Buddhism. When he returned home he was full of demons and very unsettled. He got a job as a disc jockey and radio announcer. At night he would play drums in various bands. He describes going from one gig to another and staying up until 5 or 6 in the morning. He drank heavily at this time and smoked 5 cigars a day. He would be involved in bar room brawls and was surrounded drugs, sex, and alcohol. Eventually he began to hear voices in his head and met with a Jesuit Priest, wanting to join the Catholic church. He became friends with the priest and began attending mass. Around this time God started to speak to him. He was conflicted about his faith and looked in the Bible. He said that it was like the book was alive and talking to him. One night he opened the bible and read a passage and threw it across the room, because it shocked him. He picked it up read another verse and threw it across the room again. He thought to himself what kind of book is this? He was under strong conviction. He would eventually get saved on March 19, 1949 after talking with a man named Hugh Pyle, who led him to Christ. After getting saved He enrolled at Bob Jones University. Before leaving he met with his priest friend and they smoked cigars together. They went for a walk and the Priest said "So Pete I hear your going to Bob Jones University why would you go and do a thing like that for"? He proceeded to make light of sin and started laughing. Dr. Ruckman says that as he laughed, cigar smoke was rising out of his mouth and there was a red traffic light behind him and he looked like a demon. After that Peter ran to catch a bus and threw away his cigars. He never drank or smoked again.

He went on to attend Bob Jones University where he received his masters and PHD in religion. He could speak Hebrew and Greek. He taught New Testament Greek for 40 years. He was the pastor at Bible Baptist Church in Pensacola Florida. He also open pensacola bible institute in 1965.

Peter was an accomplished artist who studied the old masters. He did a TV program called Drawing men to Christ. He would draw on an easel while preaching a short sermon. He became well known for these chalk talks as a traveling evangelist. Over time Dr. Ruckman would gain national notoriety as an authority on the King James Bible. He stood on the foundation that the King James is the only bible that matters and all others are false. He called non- king james followers an Alexandrian cult. He believed the Septuagint to be a hoax. He became America's foremost bible scholar having read the bible over 200 times cover to cover, along with individual book studies. He was God's man in a wicked God hating word. He defended and taught the king james everywhere he went. He could answer any bible question accurately within 30 seconds. His knowledge of the King James Bible was extensive. He was by all estimation the greatest mind on the word of God that ever lived. He wrote over 200 hundred books, some of which are considered the authority on there particular subject. He had an extensive knowledge of world history. Along with an in depth understanding of the arts. He would travel the country preaching the King James Bible. He would debate anyone, for hours on any bible subject. He always came out victorious and converted many people on his sheer intellect alone.

He was a polarizing figure who enraged many and was admired by many. He was the subject of much ridicule and criticism. Critics called the followers of his teachings Ruckmanites. The same way the people of Antioch called followers of Christ, Christians, it was meant to be derogatory. No modern Christian figure evokes as much controversy as Peter Ruckman. This is partly do to the fact that his personal life was such a mess. He was a very flawed human being who had very unpopular views on race, gender equality, abortion, etc.. He was also married three times, which fundamental baptists say is unexpectable.

Peter Ruckman finally retired at 93 years old. He died a short time later on April 21, 2016. He left behind 10 children. His impact on the world is still felt today. While Satan was busy flooding the world with new bibles. Dr. Ruckman was on the front lines defending God's preserved word.

God called me to sit at this typewriter and pour forth VINEGAR, ACID, VITRIOL, AND CLEANING FLUID on the leading conservative and fundamental scholars of 1900 through 1990. Dr. Peter S. Ruckman

I hope you enjoyed this article. If you are not a Christian, I invite you to get saved now. Tomorrow may be to late. To get saved all you have to do, is admit that you are a sinner and that Jesus Christ died for your sins. The only way to take away sins is with the pure shed blood of Jesus Christ. Good works can not take away sins. If they could, then Jesus Christ died in vain. Jesus died, was buried, and rose from the dead as payment for all sins. Once you believe that, you are saved forever. You did nothing to earn it and you can do nothing to lose it.

Romans 3

10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Galatians 2

16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

Ephesians 2

8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Revelation 1

5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,
