Can Good Works Get Me To Heaven

The world seems to think that being good and doing good is the way to get to heaven. This makes sense, God is good and he wants to be surrounded by good people. Why would a righteous God want a bunch of bad people around him? This is true, he doesn't want a bunch of bad people around him. Are we really good enough though?
Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
It seems that the world is full of sinners. This is true, but after they become Christians they live righteously and are no longer sinners, right? For instance, say someone is a profane drunk and a fornicator and they become a Christian. They change their whole way of life and start living a clean Godly life. This change of lifestyle is what gets people to heaven, right? This is the logic that a lot of people use. I can tell you, that this comes straight from the the devil. Just one sin is enough to get someone sent to hell for an eternity. God will not allow even one sin to enter into heaven, it would corrupt the place.
Isaiah 64:6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
Present good works can not pay for past sins. Even if someone is living "right", they are still committing some sins. Just one bad thought is a sin. Good works for salvation, really appeals to peoples pride. They can stick their chest out and say look what I did. This ultimately puts God in their debt. God does not owe anyone anything. He does not operate like that. The only way to pay for sins is with blood. This is Gods law and it is all that he will accept. There is no way around this. Why does he want blood? Because blood is life and sin is death. God will exchange life for death. This is a picture of Jesus Christ. He gave his life for our death. The only blood that is good enough to pay for all sins is the blood of Jesus Christ.
1 John 1:7 - But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
Hebrews 9:22 - And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.
Hebrews 9:14 - How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
Romans 5:9 - Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
Ephesians 1:7 - In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
It is only through Jesus Christ that anyone can be saved. Even after salvation Christians are fully capable of sin. We will spend our whole life fighting against sin. It is in us and all around us. Good works are expected once saved, but they are for blessings and rewards. God requires obedience from his people. Once we are saved, we are bought with a price. We are in debt to God. If we choose to disobey, he will punish us, but we will not loose our salvation. God wants us to become like Jesus Christ. This is where good works comes into play. Through our good works and obedience we begin to develop the character of Jesus Christ. This is for the world to see the light of Christ in us and bring people to Christ. All Christians are expected to spread the gospel and get other people saved. This is the ultimate good works.
Thank you for reading my blog. If you are not a Christian, I invite you to get saved now. Tomorrow may be to late. To get saved all you have to do, is admit that you are a sinner and that Jesus Christ died for your sins. The only way to take away sins is with the pure shed blood of Jesus Christ. Good works can not take away sins. If they could, then Jesus Christ died in vain. Jesus died, was buried, and rose from the dead as payment for all sins. Once you believe that, you are saved forever. You did nothing to earn it and you can do nothing to lose it. God Bless.
2 Timothy 1:9 – Who hath saved us, and called [us] with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,
Romans 1:16 – For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
1 John 5:11 – And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son
Titus 3:5 – Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
