Anger in the life of a Christian
Updated: Apr 8, 2021

I have personally struggled with anger all my life. I was never treated that well. Nor have I treated people that well. I have found myself in a kind of vortex of anger that I can not seem to escape. This comes from the devil and ungodly living. God does not abuse his children. He only corrects bad behavior. The only way to get out of the vicious cycle of anger is submitting to the Lord. The Lord can give you peace that you will not be able to achieve on your own. For me, my mind haunts me about the past. Satan always brings up people and scenarios to make me angry. I always seem to take the bait. It is a complete feeling of powerlessness, and loss of control. It is for a purpose though, Satan wants me to lash out at God. It is not enough to just torment me, he wants to get me angry with God. I must say at my lowest moments that is where my anger goes. God has blessed all those around me, and I get nothing but failures and rage. It is hard to love God when your dreams get taken away. God is more interested in having a relationship with us than seeing our dreams come true. Even if that means sometimes we get angry with him. I think that God understands our frustration. I have never been angry with God and felt good about it. I sometimes just want to hurt him like he hurts me. It is not God who does the hurting it is Satan and his demons.
This is where we can begin to get this anger issue under control. If we remind ourselves that all of this comes from the devil. This maybe easier said than done. When I get angry I tend to loose control and logic is the first thing to go. I think recognizing your triggers and paying attention to how you react is crucial. Guard your thoughts. 1 Peter 5:8 - Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.
The Bible warns us to be vigilant, because the devil is always waiting to attack us. There is only so much we can do under our own power though. We must ask God for help through prayer. God is the only one who can fight the devil. As a mere human I can not fight the devil. I pray diligently everyday for God to take away my rage. It is getting better and over time I know it will be gone. Bible reading is another major weapon against Satan and anger. The more knowledge you have of God the more you can defend yourself against the attacks of the devil.
Ephesians 6:
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
Also, Bible reading draws us close to God. If we draw close to him, he will bless us. We will have fellowship with him and he will take care of us.
James 4:
8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
This verse pleads with people to stop sinning and purify their hearts. If you have a pure heart toward God he is faithful to answer your prayers and protect you from the devil. I
encourage anyone who is struggling with anger, to examine your life and see what kind of sin you may be living in. Also, ask yourself what is your relationship like with God? You should be Praying everyday and reading the Bible. Pray to God that he can reveal what he wants you to change. Through your own effort and the help of the Holy Spirit, you can overcome rage. Thank you for reading my blog and I will leave you with the gospel.
I Corinthians 15
1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
